Leaked set-top box image hints about Jio DTH services

Rejoice Jio users! After getting free and unlimited 4G data and calling services, you may soon enjoy what will be the cheapest DTH service. Yes! After 4G services, Jio broadband services were rumoured to come into existence. Now this list has got a new entry – Jio DTH service.

This image of a set-top box has surfaced online which hints about the arrival of Reliance Jio DTH services.

The leaked image shows a set-top box which comes packed in the blue coloured box with jio branding. In the above image Jio logo is clearly visible on the set-top box itself.

Connectivity options

The set-top box is said to come with following connectivity options:

  • A front facing USB port.
  • An HDMI port for audio-video output.
  • The set-top box is also rumoured to come with an Ethernet port.

Jio DTH set-top box features

Apart from the connectivity options mentioned above some information that is being circulated with this image are:

  • Jio DTH service will provide more than 360 channels out of which at least 50 will be HD.
  • 7-day catch-up: If you miss any of your favourite content, you can still watch it later within 7-days.
  • The 7-day catch-up feature doesn’t use local storage to save the content but the content is stored on Jio servers which can be accessed using Jio ID.
  • The set-top box is expected to come with voice controlled channel change feature.

Jio DTH service Expected Pricing

Jio DTH set-top box service is expected to start at Rs 180 per month which is far less than what other companies are providing.

Any Welcome Offer?

We know how Reliance Jio provided free services for 3 months (which was later extended by 3 more months) as a welcome offer. It is being said that users might enjoy similar welcome offer Reliance DTH services. So be ready to enjoy free TV for at-least 90 days!

Also, Jio DTH service will be powered by Jio broadband which can give speeds upto 1Gbps. The services can also be availed by using any Android or Apple set-top box.


Information available till now suggests that Reliance Jio Infocomm is working on set-top box service in cities like Mumbai, Pune and Chennai.
